Due to the deeply personal ways psychedelics bare you, along with my own personal ethos, let me take a moment to reveal how seriously we at Psychedelic Nurse treat your and mine's privacy.
Electronically: When SMS is necessary I prefer to use an open-source encrypted app to exchange texts (Signal). If SMS is the only option I prefer to use PrivNote to keep it secure and one-time read only. Similarly, my email and data storage provider is unparalleled in shoring up privacy concerns (Protonmail). Moreover, I employ robust security protocols like multi-factor authentication, regular data backups, and network monitoring to detect and prevent potential cybersecurity threats. Our privacy policy is here and at the bottom of every page.
Medically: I am committed to ensuring the utmost security and confidentiality of your Protected Health Information (PHI), as mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). To protect your data physically, I enforce strict access-control measures, ensuring all physical records and storage devices containing PHI are stored securely. Any paper records are first scanned, then kept in a fireproof satchel. USBs containing any sensitive data are kept under lock-and-key, with copies only given to authorized users as necessary. I'm a one-woman shop for now.
Ethically: At times, even at end-of-life sometimes a loved one or family member does not approve of the use of psychedelics, despite the fervent wishes of the sittee. It must be known that my loyalty lies to you - the sittee - not your family, nor your friends. It hasn't happened yet, but I can also imagine a scenario in which one of my sits did not want their family members to know. My thoughts on that are: if you wish to be completely opaque in your dealings with your loved ones on this matter I would first have a dialogue to explore your feelings and thoughts, and then execute your wishes to the best of my ability. Barring certain non-negotiable limitations to privacy - like mandatory reporting requirements - I endeavor to be on your side.
Briefly - in 2022, the passing of Proposition 122 legalized the personal use of psychedelic substances such as psilocybin, psilocin, DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline (excluding peyote-derived mescaline) under state law. Consequently, individuals in Colorado can now cultivate, share, and gift these substances without violating state law. However, the sale of these substances remains prohibited.
It's important to note that possession and use of these psychedelics are still considered illegal under federal law.
No, you don't. Sitting with someone during a psychedelic experience does not (and hopefully will never) require an advanced medical degree. There is a thriving network of practitioners from all walks of life and practice who have an indelible connection to these medicines yet do not possess credentials behind their name.
There are those, nevertheless, who do feel more comfortable with a sitter with medical expertise, for any number of reasons, in addition to personal + professional interest/education in psychedelic-assisted therapies.
There is nothing you need to do to prepare for your 15-minute "get-to-know-you" consult; just show up as you are.
During your thorough intake, when we hammer out the details of your journey, you will receive "what can I do to prepare?" suggestions depending on the substance you've chosen.
In descending order of preference, I accept cash, check made out to "Psychedelic Nurse LLC", Venmo, Paypal, and crypto through Coinbase (coming soon). Be aware that I will wait until your check clears before scheduling your day-of sit.
Unfortunately, this is not covered by insurance and must be paid for out-of-pocket. For those with HSAs - health saving accounts - we are looking into the track of providing a superbill that you can send to your HSA administrator for reimbursement, but this is service we don't (yet) currently offer.
The richness of our local environment coupled with Colorado leading the way in legalizing and decriminalizing psychedelic substances, I believe you couldn’t choose a better state for your journey. I am local to Longmont, a city at the base of Long’s Peak - one of our state’s famous 14ers.
The closest international airport in Denver is roughly an hour away.
There are a number of fine accommodation and dining options local to the Longmont area and in Boulder County at large, from glamping to charming B&Bs to secluded vacation rentals.
I have in special circumstances accepted trades for my services, usually for those with highly-skilled talents or honed handicrafts.
I would like to expand the types of services offered here at Psychedelic Nurse. Please contact me for a collaborative effort if you can solve the issue(s) below:
Sourcing high-quality psilocybe cubensis mushrooms. The ideal ones are local to Colorado (or I have the means of visiting the place in which they're raised in), and they must be consciously-grown. Both these aspects are of critical importance.
Making the acquaintance of a scalability resource, or someone versed in applying for ANCC continuing education credits and making content/modules. I would eventually desire to be able to teach other RNs how to do what I do.
Finding two high-quality cannabis plants - one female, one male. Seed or cutting start is not important. It's necessary that they both are sun-grown, and all organic methods are used.
Was there something you wanted to see here but found it mysteriously missing?
